A16 performance remains responsive for mainstream apps, and iPadOS provides a strong library of tablet software. The Magic Keyboard Folio and compatible Apple Pencil options can expand its use, though those accessories should be included when comparing the total cost.

The non-laminated 60Hz display looks less immediate than the Air's panel, and the A16 model does not support Apple Intelligence or Siri AI. That is its biggest long-term compromise in 2026. Buyers who only need a reliable family or education tablet can save money confidently; users who want AI features, Pencil Pro, heavier creative apps, or external-display workflows should move to iPad Air.
