iPad Pro with M5 remains Apple's maximum-performance tablet in 2026. The M5 chip adds a Neural Accelerator to every GPU core and delivers a substantial increase in AI and graphics performance, while faster storage helps large creative projects feel more immediate.

Both 11-inch and 13-inch models use the Ultra Retina XDR Tandem OLED display, with excellent contrast, HDR brightness, and color control. Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard support make it a serious illustration, music, photo, and video workstation.

The limitation is value. Many users will never use the M5's headroom, and the keyboard, Pencil, storage upgrades, and nano-texture option quickly raise the total cost toward premium laptop territory. iPadOS 27 makes the hardware more capable with Siri AI and stronger multitasking, but a MacBook remains better for workflows that require desktop utilities, multiple ports, or unrestricted file management.
